Socorro Search and Rescue
SSAR is a a volunteer search and rescue team based in Socorro, NM. We provide primary search and rescue capabilities to New Mexico State Police District 11 as well as throughout the entire state as needed. We are a student organization of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and a member team of the New Mexico Search and Rescue Council.
We rely solely on volunteers from the community and we are always looking for individuals who are up to the challenges and rewards that SAR has to offer. If you have the courage to make a difference, come join our team!
Where we respond
In the state of New Mexico, search and rescue is operated under the direction of the NM Department of Public Safety and organized by NM State Police (NMSP) districts. Our primary responding area is NMSP District 11, but we respond state-wide if additional SAR resources are needed.
